Assembly to hear recommendations on homeless issues

The numbers and visibility of homeless people in Juneau is growing and the issue is firmly in the public’s attention. Causes of homelessness are varied and can include a medical emergency, loss of job or income, substance abuse and mental health issue or a domestic violence incident. Each person has a life story that has resulted in their homelessness, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. (more…)

School Facilities

Demographic and economic changes are big drivers in the State. Like a lot of the country, our population is aging and that change is happening at a time when the State has significantly fewer financial resources. Locally, an aging of the population means that we have fewer kids in the school system. (more…)
