Walking bridges near Juneau Airport temporarily closed for replacement

April 16, 2019 – FYI

The Juneau International Airport will begin replacing two walking bridges in the Jordan Creek Greenbelt area today. Both bridge replacements should be complete sometime next week. Pedestrians are advised to use caution in the area. The work is being done in coordination and with the support of the Southeast Alaska Watershed Coalition.

Built in the late 1980s, the bridges between the airport and the Nugget Mall/neighboring businesses are walking shortcuts that are in dire need of replacement. The main bridge will be closed beginning today through Friday, April 19 to install the replacement. The second bridge further upstream (west) will still be accessible until it’s replaced immediately after the main bridge.

The Airport thanks Southeast Alaska Watershed Coalition for its support and grant funding for this project.
