Beth Weigel is next director of Juneau-Douglas City Museum

April 16, 2018 – News

The City and Borough of Juneau is pleased to announce that Beth Weigel will lead the Juneau-Douglas City Museum as its next Director. Weigel takes over for Museum Director Jane Lindsey, who’s retiring after 18 years working at the museum.

Weigel has been the Juneau Public Libraries Program Coordinator since September 2013. In this role, she’s brought many authors and other grant funded programs to Juneau, worked closely with the libraries’ Youth Services and built relationships with a wide range of partners locally, state-wide and around the country.

She looks forward to the upcoming challenge of being museum director. “I am honored to be entrusted with the care and direction of such a beloved institution,” Weigel said.

Prior to the library, Weigel was Executive Director for Discovery Southeast. Weigel holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Denver and has been an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Alaska Southeast for 18 years.

Weigel’s first day at the City Museum is April 16.
