Have you ever wondered how old the rocks under your feet are? Or why gold is found here? If so, this tour is for you! Led by Juneau residents, Dr. Cathy Connor (Professor of Geology, Emerita) and Richard Carstensen (Naturalist), this tour will highlight the general geology of Downtown Juneau, and how our local geology has influenced downtown development and history. The walk is about 1.5 miles in length and will begin at the City Museum, located on the corner of 4th and Main Streets. The tour ends at the waterfront whale fountain. Terrain will be downhill or flat, with no stair-climbing.

Tickets may be purchased at the City Museum or by calling 907-586-3572. The tour includes free admission to the City Museum as well as a coupon for 20% off select items in the Museum Store. Space is limited so advanced reservations with payment are recommended.
