Summary:

The Juneau Police Department has updated the list of Crimes of the Month for September and October. The cases can be viewed on the Juneau Crime Line website at www.JuneauCrimeline.com.

The Crimes of the Month are selected from crimes reported the previous month. They are selected based on the severity of the crime and impact on the community; as well as when the initial investigation has concluded and more information is needed to identify the persons responsible. Anyone with information is encouraged to log on to the Juneau Crime Line Web site to report their tip.  You may also call Juneau Crime Line at 907-523-7700 or JPD at 907-586-0600.  You may be eligible for a reward.

Case Synopsis: Robbery

On 10/01/2021, at 9:47 PM, an employee at a business located in the 9100 block of Mendenhall Mall Road, called JPD to report a robbery. The employee, who was also the victim, reported a male ran up to her while she was locking her business door and said "Give me the money, give me the bag" and threatened to shoot them if they didn't. The employee didn't see the man with any weapons. The employee told the man there was no money in the tote bag she was carrying, but she gave the man the tote bag anyway and he ran from the area. The suspect was described as a male, wearing a black hoody, dark cloths, white colored mask and carrying a green "World Of Banks" tote bag. The suspect is believed to be approximately 5' tall, with a thin build.

On the night of the robbery, it was very stormy with heavy rain and wind. The power was knocked out, so it was very dark out with low visibility.

Case Synopsis: Motor Vehicle Theft

On 09/24/21, a 61-year-old male reported his tan 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from the parking lot of a business, located in the 11800 block of Glacier Highway. The caller reported he last saw the vehicle on 09/11/21. On 09/24/21, the vehicle was located unoccupied on Haffner Court.

Case Synopsis: Motor Vehicle Theft

On 09/17/2021, a 24-year-old male reported his white 1996 Chevrolet pickup was stolen on 09/16/2021, from the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 9000 block of James Blvd. It was reported the vehicle was located on 09/17/2021, in a parking lot a few blocks away. The vehicle owner reported the steering column and ignition system was damaged by the person who stole the vehicle.

Case Synopsis: Counterfeit $100 Bill

On 09/02/2021, JPD received a report from a bank in the 8900 block of Glacier Highway that a counterfeit $100 bill had come in from a business that was making their daily deposits.
