On 11/18/2020, at about 3:08 PM, 30-year-old Joshua Allen Shaff called the Juneau Police Department on the business line and reported a murder at a residential housing facility in the 800 block of West 12th Street.
Officers responded to the housing facility and contacted Shaff waiting outside his apartment, which is located within the facility. Inside an adjacent apartment to Shaff's, officers located the body of a 69-year-old deceased male. The initial cause of death appeared to be from multiple stab wounds.
Nobody else was located inside the apartment and officers confirmed the deceased male was the resident of the apartment in which he was found. Shaff was detained and brought to JPD for questioning.
Shaff was later arrested on one count of murder in the 1st degree. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and is being arraigned in District Court on 11/19/2020.
The 69-year-old deceased male has been identified as Majid Sateri (also known as Mark Humford). Next of kin was notified of the death.

The Juneau Police Department is currently on scene at a residential housing facility located in the 800 block of West 12th Street. Officers and Detectives are conducting a death investigation that is believed to be a homicide. A single victim has been identified as a 69-year-old Juneau resident, who resides at the facility. There were no other reported injuries to anyone else at the facility. The name of the deceased is not be released at this time, as JPD is attempting to locate next of kin and notify them of the death.
A 30-year-old male Juneau resident is in custody and is being questioned regarding the death.
