Subject: Burglary: UPDATE ***Arrest made***
Date: 2020-07-20
From: Lieutenant Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #200720-002
Summary:

*** Updated 07/23/2020 at 10:45 AM ***

During the investigation of the burglary at the valley Bullwinkles, officers and detectives recovered some of the suspect's clothing and all the stolen property in the woods nearby. As a result, 37-year-old Juneau resident Willis Austin Ehlers (AKA Billy Ehlers) was considered a person of interest in the break in.

JPD Detectives obtained search warrants for Mr. Ehlers and on 07/22/20 at about 5:00 PM, he was located near a residence in the 4200 block of Mendenhall Blvd. Mr. Ehlers was detained and brought back to JPD for questioning and the service of the search warrants.

Mr. Ehlers was later taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center where he was lodged on the charges of burglary 2nd degree, a class C felony, theft 2nd degree, a class C felony, and criminal mischief in the 3rd degree, a class C felony.

This case highlighted some really great work by JPD Officers and Detectives. Sometimes, all the pieces just fall in line together and we have the evidence to make a quick arrest before anyone else can be victimized. As always, thanks to our community members for all of their support.
