On December 31st, 2019 at about 1:17 p.m., several 9-1-1 calls were received reporting a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Glacier Highway near the Ferry Terminal. JPD officers and Capital City Fire/Rescue were dispatched to the scene. One lane of traffic was closed for about 50 minutes.
The investigation revealed that the 59 year old male driver of a black Mazda SUV was driving outbound when it failed to make the curve and struck a blue Chevrolet Cruise head-on. The male driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not critical.
The 65 year old male driver and 58 year old female passenger of the Chevy sustained minor injuries.
Both vehicles were totaled and impounded as evidence. The incident is under investigation.
