On 7/3/19, at about 7:00 PM, JPD received a report of a bank robbery at the AlaskaUSA Federal Credit Union, located inside Safeway, on Vintage blvd.
The robbery suspect was described as being a thin male, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, and a red beanie hat that was pulled down over his face. The beanie had holes cut out for the eyes. The male suspect jumped over the counter at AlaskaUSA and demanded the tellers fill a backpack up with money. At one point, the suspect pulled out a small knife and threatened the tellers.
The suspect left the credit union with an unknown amount of money and was last seen running across the Safeway parking lot towards the area of the Brotherhood bridge.
Nobody was reported to have been injured during this incident.
The Juneau Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in this case. If you were in the area of Safeway and recall seeing anyone matching the suspect’s description, please contact the Juneau Police Department.
