Subject: Arrest Made for Domestic Violence Case

Summary:

Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call at about 4:45pm on March 29th from a woman reporting her neighbor was bleeding and had been assaulted by Mark Cook Jr. The male suspect left the area on a bicycle.

JPD Officers and Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to the residence in the 9900 block of Stephen Richards Memorial Drive. The female victim was transported by ambulance to BRH. JPD officers canvassed the area throughout the evening and the next several days looking for Cook.

On Monday April 1st at around 4pm, JPD received information that Cook was at a residence in the 9900 block of Stephen Richards Memorial Drive. Nine JPD officers and an Alaska State Trooper responded to the residence. Cook stated he was armed with a pistol and refused to come out of the residence. CCF/R was dispatched and staged in the area to enable a quick response if needed. Negotiations were conducted through a closed door and at around 5:48 pm, Cook surrendered. No one was injured during the arrest.

24 year old Mark C. Cook Jr. was charged with one count of DV Assault in the 2nd degree and one count of DV Assault in the 3rd degree. He was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
