On 10/24/18, at about 4:43 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a 911 call regarding multiple vehicles involved in a crash in the area of the 8800 block of Egan Drive, commonly referred to as the McNugget Intersection.
JPD and CCFR responded to the McNugget Intersection and determined that four vehicles had been involved in the crash. Three of the vehicles had been in the inbound lane of Egan Drive and were stopped for a red light at the intersection. The fourth vehicle, a grey 2011 Toyota Tundra, driven by 40 year old Juneau resident Eliseth Harman, had been travelling inbound on Egan Drive. The Toyota Tundra failed to stop and rear ended one of the stopped vehicles, pushing that vehicle into the two other vehicles ahead of it.
At least one driver sustained injuries to their wrist and back and was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The combined damages to the four vehicles is valued at about $16,000. Two of the vehicles had to be towed from the area due to them being disabled during the crash. The inbound lane of Egan Drive was closed for about an hour while officers investigated the crash.
Harman was placed under arrest for driving while under the influence a class A misdemeanor, and assault 3rd degree, a class C felony. Harman later provided a breath sample to determine her level of intoxication, which resulted in a breath alcohol concentration of 0.193%.
Harman was taken to the jail and held without bail.
