INFORMATION RELEASE

On 09/05/18, at 9:20 PM, a 35 year old female called 911 and reported she was being kidnapped. Then the female said she had been thrown from a moving vehicle and was walking on Egan Drive.

Officers responded to the area of Egan Drive and the McNugget intersection and located the female. The female was evaluated by CCFR due to potential injuries and later taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

The female told officers that she was getting a ride home from her boyfriend, 39 year old Giancarlo Gomez, when they got into an argument. Gomez refused to drop the female off at her home and drove past her house. The female said Gomez told her that he was going to take her out the road and end it; that it wouldn't be hard and then he would just shoot himself in the head. The female is aware that Gomez owns and carries a semi-automatic handgun.

This scared the female because she thought Gomez was going to do it. The female attempted to call 911 on her cell phone while in the car. Gomez tried taking the phone from the female and in the process, struck the female in the face with his hand.

As they were approaching the McNugget intersection, and travelling about 15 mph, Gomez pushed the female out of the moving vehicle.

While at the hospital, the female said she received a phone call from her daughter who said Gomez had come to their home in the Lemon Creek area and was looking for her; Gomez had come into the home and took some items from the female’s bedroom and then left.

Officers responded to the home. While enroute to the home, the female called JPD and reported Gomez had just called her and threatened to go to the home and shoot himself in front of her children.

Officers arrived at the female’s home and made sure everyone was safe and that Gomez was not there. Officers located Gomez’s vehicle parked just down the street, but the vehicle was unoccupied. While officers searched the area for Gomez, other officers transported the children to JPD for their safety.

The officers searching for Gomez saw that a dog was lying next to the vehicle and was looking towards a nearby grassy meadow, as if waiting for someone to come back. Officers searched the meadow and later located Gomez who was hiding inside. Gomez was in possession of a .40 caliber handgun that was in a holster on his hip.

Officers placed Gomez under arrest for two counts of assault in the 3rd degree, a class C felony, one count of assault in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor and one count of interfering with a report of a crime of domestic violence, a class A misdemeanor.

Gomez was taken to the jail and held without bail.

At this time, the females injuries are not believed to be serious.
