INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Motor Vehicle Crash
Date: 2017-11-08
From: Sergeant Sterling Salisbury
Case or Incident: #171108-007
Summary:

On November 8th, 2017, at approximately 3:18PM, the Juneau Police Department received several reports of a motor vehicle crash near Fred Meyer in a ditch.

Police and CCFR responded to the area and located a white 2010 Ford Taurus disabled in the ditch. Police contacted the driver of the vehicle, 26 year old Christopher King and a 25 year old male passenger.

The investigation showed that the Ford Taurus was driving Egan outbound near Fred Meyer at a high rate of speed, when it attempted to miss a vehicle turning left from Egan inbound and drove into the ditch. The Ford Taurus sustained approximately $10,000 in damages from the crash.

Both occupants declined medical attention on scene from CCFR.

King was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a class A Misdemeanor and Reckless Endangerment, a class A Misdemeanor. King later provided a breath sample to determine his level of intoxication. King's breath alcohol concentration was .161; which is twice the legal limit for operating a vehicle.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
