Summary:

Today Chief Ed Mercer announced the promotion of David Campbell to the position of Deputy Chief for the Juneau Police Department (JPD). The promotion will take effect on October 30th, 2017.

Campbell has been a police officer at JPD for 22 years. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Alaska Southeast and a Bachelor degree in Justice from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Campbell graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2016.

Throughout his law enforcement career, Campbell has served in a variety of leadership roles including Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Investigations Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Executive Officer and Administrative Lieutenant.

JPD staff, other CBJ staff and community members participated in the selection process. Chief Mercer indicated that the process for the Deputy Chief position was focused on selecting a candidate with strong professional traits such as job experience, community outreach shills, the ability to work well with others, a commitment to JPD and to the community while being a team player and critical thinker.

In his announcement, Chief Mercer stated that ?David will serve the department and community well with his many years of police service in this agency.?
