INFORMATION RELEASE

On September 30th, 2017 at 9:25PM, the Juneau Police Department received a call regarding 27 year old Zachary Pratt causing a disturbance inside a business on Hospital Drive.

Officers contacted Pratt in the area of Hospital Drive and served him with an arrest warrant for violating his probation. Pratt became combative; he resisted arrest and fought with officers.

Officers used a Taser on Pratt, but it had minimal effect. Officers disengaged when standard force was not effective and Pratt tried to run from the area. Pratt aggressively ran towards an officer, and after being warned to stop, an officer shot Pratt in the upper leg with a less than lethal, drag stabilized bean bag round. Pratt ran to an occupied building and locked himself in the bathroom. Pratt was located soon afterwards and taken into custody without further incident.

During the altercation with Pratt, one of the arresting officers sustained minor injuries that required a medical evaluation. Pratt sustained injuries which required medical treatment at the Bartlett Regional Hospital. None of Pratt?s injuries are believed to be life threatening.

Pratt was later lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on his warrant, as well as three counts of assault against a police officer and one count of resisting arrest, all of which are class A misdemeanors.
