On December 11th, 2016 at about 4:50pm, JPD received a call reporting a vehicle had struck a wall at the Foodland IGA building on Willoughby Avenue.
Officers began an investigation and determined that a green Chevy Tahoe struck a brick wall and quickly left the area. Damage to the building included broken bricks, extensive cracks and bowing in of the wall. The property manager indicated the damage appeared to be structural and estimated repair costs to be $40,000 - $50,000.
At about 5:18pm, an officer located the vehicle parked outside an apartment complex on Northwood Drive. The vehicle had damage consistent with the reported collision. Officers contacted the driver, 39 year old Joshua J. Hunnel, in a nearby residence.
Hunnel was arrested for felony Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test and Failure to Provide Immediate Notice of Accident. He was transported to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
