Summary:

On 12/10/2016, at approximately 9:47 PM, the Juneau Police Department received several reports that multiple gunshots were heard in the area of the 5200 block of the Glacier Highway. At approximately 9:51 PM, JPD received a call from a 21 year old male Juneau resident who was involved with the shooting.

JPD officers arrived and contacted the 21 year old male and a 32 year old male Juneau resident. The investigation is on-going, but the preliminary investigation indicates that the two men are friends and got into an altercation. During the altercation, the 21 year old retrieved a firearm and shot the 32 year old male. The firearm was seized as evidence.

The 21 year old male was taken to the Bartlett Regional Hospital and treated for minor injuries sustained during the altercation. He was later released.

The 32 year old victim had been shot three times. He was taken to the Bartlett Regional Hospital and later medivaced to Anchorage for treated of his injuries.

Alcohol appears to be a factor in this incident.

The investigation is on-going.
