Update issued on 12/08/2014 15:51 - Correction to age of suspect: John R. Knudson is 55 years old

On 12/08/2014, at about 1316 hours, the Juneau Police Department (JPD) received a report from Wells Fargo downtown reference a bank robbery threat. The male subject, 56 year old Juneau resident John Knudson, refused to leave the premises when asked by bank management. Knudson was not reported to be confrontational and no weapons could be seen on or about him. A bank employee reported that Knudson indicated he was waiting for someone to arrive before he robbed the bank.
Two JPD officers responded within one minute of the call being dispatched and detained Knudson in the back of a marked patrol vehicle.
The preliminary investigation resulted in John Knudson being arrested for criminal trespass. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on $500 cash bail.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected.
