On October 31st, 2014, at about 6:30 in the evening, the manager of storage units in the 2300 block of Jordan Avenue called the Juneau Police Department to report a storage unit appeared to have been burglarized. The manager had been at the property recently and said the crime had happened in the last 30 minutes.
The renters were interviewed and reported three long guns and two pistols had been taken. JPD is now looking for a pink children?s .22 caliber rifle called ?My First Rifle?, a .22 caliber Ruger rifle with camo colored stock, and a Mossberg .22 caliber rifle. The handguns are a Taurus .22 caliber semi-automatic and a Ruger .45 caliber semi-automatic.
The person or people committing the burglary attempted to pry an electrical box off the wall which impacted the automatic fire doors but was unassociated with surveillance. The repair cost is about $500. The subjects appeared to have tried to use bolt cutters to remove a padlock on the storage unit but were unable to cut the lock. The subjects then pried the door off the tracks, doing about $600 in damage.
