On November 4th 2014 at 10:54 am, a JPD officer arrested 40 year old Juneau resident Scott R. Parker on an outstanding warrant charging distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Parker was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
The investigation began in April based on multiple cybertips submitted to the Anchorage Cybercrimes Unit through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The Anchorage Police Department (APD) is the lead law enforcement agency in the State of Alaska for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. On April 21st, an APD Cyber Crimes Detective forwarded the case to a JPD Detective who is a member of that task force. As the investigation continued, members of the task force collaborated to process evidence related to the case.
Parker was indicted by a Juneau grand jury on Friday October 31st, 2014. The indictment charges Parker with 39 counts of possessing child pornography, which are Class C felonies, and one count of distributing child pornography, which is a Class B felony.
At this time there is no indication that any of the victims depicted in the images were from Juneau. The investigation is continuing.
