Friday was a very busy night for the Juneau Police Department due to Halloween festivities. To support the regularly scheduled patrol teams, seven extra officers participated in directed enforcement between the hours of 2pm and 4am.
While the patrol teams fielded 66 calls for service from the public, the directed activity teams focused on neighborhood foot patrols and DUI enforcement. In addition to calls from the public, there were 61 officer initiated calls with 21 traffic stops. Of particular note is the fact that there were no DUI arrests that night!
JPD would like to recognize the Juneau chapter of CHARR for their initiative and support in preventing DUIs during this fun period of lively social gatherings. The non-profit organization partnered with local taxi companies to provide 417 sober rides home from participating bars. Their financial sponsorship is much appreciated.
JPD also thanks citizens for making safe decisions and we hope the trend will continue throughout the holiday season.
