Project Overview

The 2020 Juneau Trails Master Plan is a collaborative effort between the City and Borough of Juneau, Trail Mix, Inc., Alaska State Parks and the United States Forest Service. The plan will provide coordination and connectivity between these partners for the maintenance and further development of the Juneau trail system. The plan will be developed through community outreach that will include one-on-one meetings with user groups, an online survey and an open house-style public meeting. With this input the Plan will identify high-priority projects and will develop a trail maintenance schedule to meet the growing demand for trail recreation of all kinds.

The project was put on hold as it began just before the pandemic. The Assembly recently appropriated funding as part of the FY24 budget to continue and complete the plan with the facilitation and coordination work performed by a consultant. Work will begin in 2024.
