Aquatic Fitness Classes

Juneau’s Pools are excited to offer an array of Aquatic Fitness options to our community and guests.  These Instructor-led class days/times vary between each of our facilities (Dimond Park Aquatic Center and Augustus Brown Pool) providing many options to fit into your busy schedule.

  • No need to sign up – Drop-in anytime!
  • No Additional fee to participate!
  •  All guests 16 years or older are welcome to join the workouts!

In the rare instance of instructor unavailability, the equipment, time and pool space will be available for individual work-out opportunity.

Aqua Aerobics

Shallow Water

Shallow Water Aqua Aerobics is a low impact total body workout that will help tone and strengthen. Using various equipment (noodles, kickboards, aqua dumbbells, belts, medicine balls, etc), this shallow water class is typically taught in the small pool at Augustus Brown. At Dimond Park Aquaic Center, this class may be taught in a combination of the back corner of the Recreation Pool, Current Channel and the shallow end of the Lap Pool. Join our enthusiastic Aquatic Instructors for a great work out with lots of fun and friendships.

Aqua Aerobics

Deep Water

Set to upbeat tunes, Deep Water Aqua Aerobics is a high-energy workout to get your heart pumping! This total body cardiovascular workout will help tone and strengthen. Using buoyancy waist belts, wrist and ankle cuffs to enhance natural buoyancy and resistance of the water. This class is taught in the deep end of the Lap Pool at Augustus Brown Pool. Aquatic dumbells and noodles are used to increase resistence during intervaled exercise sets. This class begins with a warm-up and a cool-down stretch.

*Formerly Hydrofit, this class uses many of the principles and exercises of Hydrofit.

Ai Chi

Ai Chi focuses on breath with progressive resistance training to relax and strengthen the body. Movements are slow, controlled and continous to improve balance, gait and facilitate physical rehabilitation. Lights are often turned down. Soft music is incorporated to create a relaxing environment. This class is especially helpful for those who are recovering from injury and looking to improve strength and flexibility.
