Twin Lakes being partially drained week of Oct. 28 to fight invasive weeds

The City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation Park Maintenance crew will be draining Twin Lakes the week of October 28 in an effort to fight the growth of the invasive weed, milfoil. The goal is to expose the milfoil to freezing temperatures.
The Park Maintenance crew plans to leave enough water in the deeper portions of the lake to allow some ice skating this winter. The lake will be drained again in the spring and filled with saltwater.
