To avoid avalanche danger, avoid avalanche terrain

It’s important to remember that Juneau has a multitude of hazards. During the winter months, the City and Borough of Juneau highlights those hazards in the Urban Avalanche Advisory, a daily report.

To see where the Urban Avalanche Zones in the community are, go to these maps (scroll down to “Landslides & Avalanches”) or this map. When the advisory is High or Extreme, avoid or limit time in avalanche terrain.
