Planning Commission meets November 27. Here’s how to weigh in.

November 16, 2018 – Notices for Public Comment

The City and Borough of Juneau Planning Commission meets on November 27, 7 pm in City Hall Assembly Chambers to review phase one of a Planned Unit Development subdivision in North Douglas; recommendations for the city’s Capital Improvement Program; water, sewer, and street improvements on Birch Lane; an amendment to Title 49; and will reconsider their approval of a condominium development in Auke Bay. All of these items are up for public hearing.

A subdivision of one lot within a Planned Unit Development in North Douglas (SMF2018 0001)

On November 13, 2018, the Planning Commission approved the applicant’s request for an amendment to a Planned Unit Development (PUD) in North Douglas and a preliminary plat for the associated subdivision. The applicant proposes 3 phases of development, and this particular case addresses the first phase which requires a subdivision creating 5 total lots (4 individual residential lots & 1 parent lot) for the PUD.

Recommendations for the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CSP2018 0012)

Each year, the Planning Commission is tasked with reviewing and recommending to the Assembly whether to approve the Borough’s six-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The recommendations provided at this stage reflect the Commission’s highest priorities for CIP funding to assist in further implementing the Comprehensive Plan and other City and Borough plans.

Road, water and sewer improvements along Birch Lane (CSP2018 0013)

CBJ Engineering and Public Works requests a city project review of proposed pavement, sewer, and drainage improvements along Birch Lane between Mendenhall Boulevard and Dogwood Lane.

A text amendment to Title 49 regarding improvement standards (AME2018 0015)

The proposed ordinance would amend the requirements for temporary cul-de-sac and stub street rights-of-way including removing the requirement for a subdivision developer to provide a financial guarantee related to their construction for a period of 5 years.

Reconsideration of a proposed condominium development in Auke Bay (USE2018 0016)

The Planning Commission will reconsider their approval of an application they heard at their October 23, 2018, meeting. The applicant requested a Conditional Use Permit for the development of a 32-unit condominium complex on a vacant lot at 11798 Glacier Highway, located within the Auke Bay Center area.
