The Juneau Board of Education is holding a public forum on the Juneau School District’s Smart Start School Re-entry Plan on Monday, July 6 at 5 p.m. There will be a presentation by Superintendent Bridget Weiss followed by an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions. Join the Zoom Meeting online https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84525405472 or call 1-346-248-7799; Meeting ID: 845 2540 5472.

JSD has been working hard to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. In addition to the normal back-to-school preparations, the district is also considering the health and safety of the community while ensuring the best start for students after a long absence from school. The district last week released Smart Start 2020, a plan on how to reopen the schools that follows a blended learning model and considers different risk levels. Read the Smart Start 2020 plan here. Read Frequently Asked Questions about the plan here.

The district’s plan follows guidelines from the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development  and the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. JSD is also closely watching the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
