September 17, 2019 – News

The Treadwell Historic Preservation & Restoration Society is holding a ribbon cutting for the newly preserved Treadwell Mine Office Building this Sunday, September 22, starting at 2 p.m. The office building is located within the Treadwell Mine Historic Trail, which is managed by the City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation Department. The trail is in Douglas, near Sandy Beach and Savikko Park.

The ribbon cutting is the culmination of the Treadwell Society’s ongoing rehabilitation project of the office building. The newest feature is the installation of interpretive panels inside the building, as well as interior and exterior picnic tables. Other work has included painting, roof replacement, new flooring, and other remodeling.

The ribbon cutting is happening in conjunction with the Perseverance Theatre 40-year Birthday Party. Take a walk on the Treadwell Mine Historic Trail to see the new interpretive panels and picnic tables, and then drop by the theater for a piece of birthday cake. All happening 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
