Public meetings on Douglas/West Juneau area begin Tuesday, March 3

A series of public meetings on Douglas/West Juneau kicks off Tuesday, March 3. Each meeting will focus on a different topic and, collectively, the topics will form the framework of the Douglas/West Juneau Area Plan. All the meetings, hosted by the City and Borough of Juneau Community Development Department, will take place at the Douglas Library from 5 to 7 p.m.

The March 3 meeting will focus on Economic and Business Vitality. It will begin with an economic overview of Douglas/West Juneau, followed by small group sessions where the public will identify an economic-related vision for the area, set priorities and goals related to economics, and identify trends, criteria for success, new ideas, and opportunities.

The mission of the Douglas/West Juneau Area Plan is to create a long-term vision for the area from Sandy Beach to the Douglas Bridge that reflects current public desires and incorporates past work from relevant existing plans. The goal is to develop a long-term vision for Douglas/West Juneau that will guide growth and development for the next 20 years.
