Public Comment Open for Capital City Fire Rescue FY20-FY21 Spending Plan of Title III Funds

The Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 was reauthorized and signed into law by President Trump on March 23, 2018. This reauthorization allows for new uses of Title III payments to states. The City and Borough of Juneau’s Capital City Fire and Rescue program proposes the FY20-21 spending plan for eligible expenditures under Title III. The full proposal can be found on the City’s website, at the link below.

Following the 45-day public comment period, and after taking into full consideration the comments received, the City and Borough of Juneau will issue a decision on the proposed use of funds. This proposal will not pass through the City and Borough of Juneau’s Assembly for public hearing. The FY20 funds have already been appropriated and the revenue received with the adoption of the FY20 City Budget, and the Assembly intends to appropriate the funds to Capital City Fire and Rescue for the purpose outlined in the full proposal in FY21 through the adoption of the FY21 City Budget.

Comments may be submitted in writing by June 22, 2020 to the City’s Finance Office via email to [email protected] or regular mail to 155 Municipal Way, Juneau, Alaska 99801.
