The purpose of the project is to provide safe and convenient access for users.

The project includes the construction of a subsurface parking garage, pedestrian plaza, and a two-story building with a basement for Native Arts instruction. Additionally, the applicant proposes to construct a canopy which extends from the proposed SHI arts campus building to the existing Sealaska office building. The covered canopy is wide enough to accommodate a walking path, and small vendor areas for outdoor retail booths.
