The Special Planning Commission Meeting will occur January 8 at 7 p.m. in City Hall Conference Room 224 to review a State project for a new roundabout and road improvements on Glacier Highway. This item is up for public hearing.

A State project for a new roundabout and improvements on Glacier Highway (CSP2019 0011)

The applicant requests a State Project Review of improvements on Glacier Highway between Glacier Highway Access Road and Vanderbilt Hill Road. The purpose of the project is to reduce vehicle delay and increase safety for pedestrians and bicyclists. The project includes the following work: new roundabout at the Renninger Street intersection; new pedestrian refuge medians along Short Street, Concrete Way, Belardi Drive, Central Avenue, Alaway Avenue, Renninger Street, and the former Walmart site intersections; new refuge median for bicycles a the Lemon Road intersection; new pedestrian activated flashing beacons at the Vanderbilt Hill Road, Concrete Way, Renninger Road, and former Walmart site intersections; new “zebra-style” marking for pedestrian crossings; new traffic signal at the Davis Avenue intersection; new 5-foot wide sidewalks on both sides of the corridor, except at the roundabout; replacement of existing lighting with LED lighting; replacement of the traffic signal at the Anka Street intersection; and  5.5-foot wide bicycle lanes on both sides, marked with 8-inch wide white stripes.
