Nov. 9 Coaches Summit in Juneau offers day of professional development & connection

The Zach Gordon Youth Center is hosting an all-day Coaches Summit this Saturday, November 9 at Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 2019 Coaches Summit: Connect. Play. Change The Game provides a day of professional development and connection for volunteer, paid, assistant and head coaches, as well as families of youth who participate in coached sports and other activities.

The keynote speaker is John O’Sullivan, founder of the Changing the Game Project and author of several books on coaching youth sports. A leader in the field of youth sports, O’Sullivan is nationally recognized for his focus on fun and healthy competition over winning. During the summit, he’ll present in the morning, during lunch, in breakout sessions, and as part of a panel discussion.

Other breakout sessions will be led by local leaders in youth sports, child development, and trauma-informed practices. Themes include building resilience, fostering inclusion, as well as an opportunity to hear directly from student athletes. See the full schedule here.
