North Franklin Street closures Friday and this weekend
The water service to the fire hydrant near Gunakadeit Park was successfully repaired late last week. Several sidewalk panels and some roadway concrete damaged during the break and repair will need to be replaced. A contractor for the City and Borough of Juneau plans to pour sidewalk panels this week, and to do the roadway work tomorrow and into the weekend.
North Franklin Street will be closed at the Front/Franklin intersection on Friday, April 26 from 9 a.m to 2:30 p.m. to prepare the roadway for concrete, and then closed from Saturday, April 27 at 7 a.m. to Monday, April 29 at 7 a.m. while the concrete roadway panel is poured and initial curing takes place.
North Franklin Street will be open at Second Street, and vehicles exiting the Baranof parking lot will be able to turn onto North Franklin Street from First Street. Front Street traffic will not be affected. Pedestrians and drivers should use extra caution moving through this area.
