April 11, 2018 – News, Notices for Public Comment

Eighty percent of Juneau’s heating loads are currently provided by petroleum, but heat pumps, which are powered by hydroelectricity, are efficient, cost effective alternatives. Learn about the Electrification of Heating in Juneau on Tuesday, April 17 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall Chambers.

Listen to presentations by Stuart Cohen of Interfaith Power & Light, Andy Romanoff of Renewable Juneau, and Alec Mesdag of Alaska Electric Light & Power. Then take part in a discussion about the opportunities and challenges of making a transition to heating with renewable energy.

Electrification of Heating in Juneau is sponsored by the Juneau Commission on Sustainability. The session is part of an educational series working toward implementing the Juneau Renewable Energy Strategy, which was adopted by the Juneau Assembly in February.
