Learn about drafted new residential zoning districts for parts of Downtown Jan. 30, Feb. 5 & 7

January 30, 2019 – News, Notices for Public Comment

Is your house in the Alternative Design Overlay District in Downtown Juneau? If so, this informational meeting may interest you. Residential areas in the downtown Alternative Design Overlay District – or ADOD – are proposed to be rezoned to create regulations that better fit existing development patterns.

The ADOD was adopted in 2017 as a temporary measure to provide relief for owners of properties considered “non-conforming” due to development that predates current zoning requirements; it sunsets in August 2019. The Community Development Department has drafted new residential zoning districts for the ADOD and invites the community to learn about what is proposed and offer feedback. There are three informational meetings:

▪️ Tonight, January 30, 6 to 8 p.m. in City Hall Assembly Chambers

▪️ Tuesday, February 5, 6 to 8 p.m. at McPhetres Hall, Holy Trinity Church, 4th and Gold Streets

▪️ Thursday, February 7, 6 to 8 p.m. at Juneau Douglas High School Library

The information at each meeting will be the same; choose the date and location that is best for you to attend.
