Learn about drafted new residential zoning districts for parts of downtown Dec. 5 or 7

November 25, 2019 – News, Notices for Public Comment

Is your house in the Alternative Design Overlay District in Downtown Juneau? The City and Borough of Juneau Community Development Department has drafted new residential zoning districts for the Alternative Design Overlay District – or ADOD – and invites the community to learn about what’s proposed and offer feedback. Attend an informational meeting Thursday, December 5 at 6-7:30 p.m. in City Hall Chambers or Saturday, December 7 at 3-4:30 p.m. in City Hall Chambers.

The ADOD was adopted in 2017 as a temporary measure to provide relief for owners of properties considered “non-conforming” due to development that predates current zoning requirements. The Community Development Department will discuss proposed revisions to the ADOD, which affects setbacks, minimum lot area, and other issues related to development. Staff will present an overview of the revisions, and the public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide comments.
