Juneau has another new case of COVID-19

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports another new case of COVID-19 in Juneau. How the individual contracted the virus is under investigation. Cumulatively, 35 people from Juneau have tested positive for COVID-19 since March – three of those cases are active, 32 individuals have recovered.

The state Division of Public Health has initiated a contact investigation and will reach out to any person who may have come into contact with this individual. Public Health will notify and isolate additional persons as appropriate. Even if you have mild symptoms of COVID-19, it’s important to get tested. Call Juneau’s COVID-19 Screening Hotline at 586-6000, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Juneau residents should also continue to be diligent with these other preventive measures:

  • Stay six feet or more away from non-family members.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others.
  • Wash your hands frequently.

Juneau’s case today is part of 19 new ones reported statewide. The State of Alaska has had 563 cumulative cases – 169 are active, 384 have recovered.
