JPD Information Release: Threats to Floyd Dryden

On the night of 08/22/19, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a verbal threat of harm against Floyd Dryden Middle school. The threat was regarding two juveniles who talked about bringing a gun to school and shooting people.

The police have contacted the individuals who were alleged to have made the threat. Both juveniles have been identified as 13-year-old males, and are students at Floyd Dryden Middle school. The individuals were in custody for questioning before the start of school today. Floyd Dryden is safe and operating normally.

Following the investigation, the two male juveniles were placed under arrest and taken to the Johnson Youth Center, on the charge of terroristic threatening in the second degree, a class C felony offense.

The Juneau Police Department and Juneau School District take all reports of threats seriously. We encourage students, parents, and families to continue to share information. If you hear or see something, say something.
