February 7, 2020 – News

Learn about the inner workings of the Juneau Police Department during an 8-week Citizens Police Academy. Topics range from the recruitment process to special unit functions, from legal issues to community policing. Some classes will include live demonstrations. The academy meets every Thursday evening, March 5 through April 23. The deadline to apply is February 17.

Academy classes will be taught by various members of JPD at the Juneau Police Department station (6255 Alaway Ave). The goal of the academy is to foster a better relationship between the police department and the community, resulting in a clearer understanding of what the community can expect from police.

To apply, submit an application by February 17. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Space is limited to 16 students.    For more information, contact Lieutenant Scott Erickson at [email protected]
