Former Public Safety Building demolition project update

Demolition of the former Public Safety Building on Whittier Street is currently underway. The contractor for the City and Borough of Juneau, Coogan Construction, expects to have the above ground structure totally demolished within the next week. Work will continue Monday thru Saturday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Once the above ground structure is removed, the next task is to remove the concrete footings and prepare the site to install a temporary asphalt parking lot. The project is on schedule to be complete in the beginning of August.

Please remember to never enter a construction zone.
