Final Draft of Parks & Rec Master Plan now available online

January 11, 2019 – News

The City and Borough of Juneau’s 2019 Parks & Recreation Master Plan considers the future of Parks & Recreation over the next 20 years with recommendations to be implemented over the next 10 years. The final draft of the document is now available online for anyone interested in the future of Parks & Recreation in Juneau. Designed to be a living document, the plan will be updated every five years to reflect changes in demographics, funding and other conditions.

The roughly 150-page document is a result of a multi-year process that involved heavy public input and public review. In 2016-17, Parks & Recreation staff met with more than 30 stakeholder groups, surveyed the community, and held public meetings to learn about the community’s priorities over the coming decade. The document includes an executive summary, Consolidated Recommendations (Chapter 9), and Plan Implementation (Chapter 10).

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee approved the Final Draft of the Parks & Recreation Master Plan at its meeting January 8. The plan now needs to go through the Planning Commission and the Juneau Assembly public processes. In the meantime, the public is encouraged to review the document here: http://www.juneau.org/parkrec/documents/ParksRecreationMasterPlan2019-2029FDRAFTsmall.pdf
