Eaglecrest Ski Area receives snowfall 29 consecutive days

February 16, 2020 – News

Eaglecrest Ski Area has enjoyed 29 consecutive days with snowfall, and the National Weather Service’s Juneau Office is forecasting more snow for the next seven days.

Since January 26, the mountain, which is owned and operated by the City & Bureau of Juneau, has received over 137 inches of snow, more than 11 feet in a span of 21 days.

Eaglecrest’s average annual snowfall over the past ten years is 320 inches, including a record season in 2011-12 with 640 inches. The 2019-20 season total is now over 280 inches.

When the snow is this deep, Eaglecrest is one of Alaska’s best-kept secrets with big mountain terrain, 1620-foot vertical drop, more than 640 acres, impressive backcountry access, untracked powder, and hardly a lift line.

Regular operating hours are Thursday to Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eaglecrest is open daily over Spring Breaks (Mar. 19 – 30).
