DOT closes Thane Road March 12

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities has closed Thane Road effective immediately. A natural avalanche event occurred this morning and crossed Thane Road. Avalanche Hazards remain HIGH, especially in windloaded areas on south facing slopes. Please avoid spending time in avalanche zones today, including areas above the gates in the Behrends Neighborhood and use of the flume trail.
