CBJ reports one new resident case of COVID-19

The City and Borough of Juneau’s Emergency Operations Center reports one new resident case of COVID-19 and no new nonresident cases. Public Health is attributing the new resident case to secondary transmission, which means the individual got COVID-19 from a known contact. Public Health has initiated a contact investigation, and will notify and quarantine additional individuals as appropriate.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had 85 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March. Of those, seven cases are active and 76 have recovered. Two previously identified nonresident cases have been corrected to resident cases (those resident cases were part of the case count yesterday). This brings the total number of nonresidents cases in Juneau to 61; 28 of these cases are active. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 91 new people with COVID-19. Sixty-seven are residents and 24 are nonresidents. Alaska has had 2,797 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 645 nonresidents.
