CBJ reports four new COVID-19 cases in Juneau

The City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center is reporting four new Juneau residents with COVID-19. Public Health is attributing two of the new cases to community transmission, which means no source case was able to be identified. The two other cases appear to be secondary transmission, which means an individual got COVID-19 from a known contact.

Please note, four cases previously identified as nonresidents have been corrected to be resident cases. Cumulatively, Juneau has had 126 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March. Of those, 36 cases are active and 89 have recovered. The total number of nonresident cases in Juneau is 90. Of those, 19 are active and 71 have recovered. All individuals with active cases of COVID-19 are in isolation. There is currently one individual with COVID-19 hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

CBJ’s numbers – on cumulative case counts, and active and recovered cases – differ from the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services dashboard numbers due to more timely reporting. CBJ is in regular contact with the Public Health officials in Juneau, and CBJ’s numbers are based on information received directly from them.

Statewide, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 95 new people with COVID-19 – 82 are residents and 13 are nonresidents. Alaska has had 3,963 cumulative resident cases of COVID-19 and a total of 787 nonresidents.
