CBJ opens new seasonal campground Tuesday, April 21

The City and Borough of Juneau’s new seasonal campground, the Mill Campground, opens Tuesday, April 21. There’s no cost to camp, but registration at the campground is required. CBJ’s goal is to provide a safe and clean seasonal camping facility from April through mid-October.

Located on the hillside between Franklin Dock and Taku Smokeries, the campground will have 20 tent platforms, bathroom facilities, handwashing stations, potable water, 20 lockable personal storage cabinets, picnic tables, and other amenities. The Mill Campground replaces the Thane Campground, which is closed.

The Parks & Recreation Department will manage and maintain the site, with daily assistance from CBJ Housing & Homelessness staff and the Juneau Police Department.
