July 12, 2020 – News

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports three new resident cases of COVID-19 in Juneau. How the individuals contracted the virus is under investigation. Juneau’s cases are part of 116 new statewide cases reported today – 93 residents and 23 nonresidents – far surpassing yesterday’s record number of 77. Cumulatively, Alaska has had 1,479 resident cases – 847 are active – and a total of 295 nonresident cases.

In Juneau, 51 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since March. Of those, six cases are active, 43 individuals have recovered, and two are deceased. Juneau has had a total of six nonresidents with COVID-19; one case is active, five recovered.

As cases continue to rise steeply around the state, your actions make a difference:

  • Stay six feet or more away from non-family members.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a face covering when around others.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid being in a crowd, avoid long interactions with people outside your household & avoid being around forceful exhalations, like coughing, yelling, or singing.
  • Stay home when you’re sick and get tested for COVID-19 if you have even mild symptoms. Call Juneau’s COVID-19 Screening Hotline at 586-6000, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
