Annual water valve cleaning through June

April 2, 2018 – FYI

The City and Borough of Juneau Water Utility will be performing annual cleaning and exercising of the water valves throughout the borough through June 2018. Customers may encounter water discoloration or minor disruptions in service. To clear the discoloration, first wait until the work crew leaves the area, then run the cold water tap (preferably in your bathtub) until the water runs clear.

Work crews will begin in the downtown Juneau business district, working out towards the Highlands (Ross Way/Glacier Hwy), then proceeding across to Douglas. Once work is completed in Douglas, crews will return to Juneau, working northward from the Highlands to the Mendenhall Valley, and ending in the Tee Harbor area.

Anticipated work hours will begin at 5:30 a.m. Monday through Friday in the high traffic areas. For all other areas, the anticipated work hours will be between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Please watch for crews working in the roadway, use caution and obey traffic controls. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
