Activity Expo offers a one-stop shop for families searching for summer options

March 22, 2019 – FYI, News

The 4th Annual Summer Activity Expo is taking place Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centennial Hall. Dozens of local camps and programs for youth ages five and up will be showcased. Learn about all the options and register on the spot. Attendees will receive a calendar of the summer, week by week, for scheduling ease. This free event is organized by the Zach Gordon Youth Center.

Among the variety of summer activities for kids, ZGYC is offering 11 different weeklong camps, mostly for ages 7-11, that focus on hiking, art, sports, gathering and harvesting, sand castle building, pool and beach-based activities, and exploring the Tongass National Forest. New this year is Pee-Wee Paint & Play, which is catered to 5- and 6-year-old campers. For more information on the camps, go to http://www.juneau.org/parkrec/youthcenter/special.php.

The Summer Activity Expo still has room for organizations and groups interested in hosting a booth. Email ZGYC Manager Jorden Nigro at [email protected] to sign up; it’s free.
